Bond set at $1.5 million in Monday night machete attack
Lawrenceburg Now
Bond for a Five Points man arrested for injuring two people in a machete attack Monday evening has been set at $1,500,000.
Officials with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department indicate that deputies responded to Mockerson Road where the residents reported that two people had “showed up” at their home saying they had been attacked with a machete.
Deputies spoke with a male and female victim, both of whom had sustained large lacerations to the head and shoulder areas. They told deputies that they had been attacked by Barry Allen Boswell, age 49 of 175 Mockerson Road, who was wielding a machete.
Deputies quickly made their way to Boswell’s home where they “immediately found evidence of the assault in the front yard.” They report finding pools of blood in the yard along with blood spatter on a parked vehicle. They located Boswell inside the residence. They report that he was “on the couch in an intoxicated condition.”
While they were processing the scene, deputies report that a third victim, a female, arrived indicating that she had been assaulted by Boswell earlier in the day. She said that once he had passed out, she left on foot to seek help. She made her way to a store where she called her mother, asking that she come and pick her up.
The victim had to walk back to the residence and deputies indicate that her mother, accompanied by a man, arrived at the home before her. They told deputies that this is when Boswell attacked them with the machete.
Boswell was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for processing. He was booked on one count of aggravated assault on the initial victim, as well as two counts of attempted murder.
Officials indicate that the male victim was airlifted for medical care at a Nashville hospital. The two female victims were reportedly treated locally.
